WELCOME BACK

January 24, 2022

Hello everyone. I hope all of you are planning to attend our first meeting of 2022 on February 9th. We will be in the Patriot Rooms unless the Veteran’s change their policy. Please bring a mask. Covid unfortunately, is still with us. The pandemic before this one was the great influenza epidemic of 1918 and it officially lasted 3 years. I say ‘officially’ because it is still with us (that is why we all get flu shots every year—or at least most of us do.) We may as well become accustomed to Covid shots and tests hanging around as well.

Do you have your painting for the Old West Show done? Or at least in the planning stage? You should have a copy of the prospectus with this newsletter. Also don’t forget about the cover contest which will be due at the March meeting. 5 x 7 in black and white and copy ready! We’ve had some wonderful entries so I know we will have more this year. Also, there is nothing in the rules that say you can’t re-submit a drawing that didn’t win in an earlier contest. Maybe it’s exactly what we will be looking for this time!

WELCOME BACK!

July 29, 2021

Welcome Back! We had a wonderful first meeting! Thank all of you for coming to support the Art Guild. As always, Deanna Bristow did a great presentation. We try to do these paint-alongs every few months. If there is someone you’d like to see demonstrate, contact Jacki McCoy. She doesn’t do e-mail much so please contact by phone.

ATT finally cut off the e-mail, so I changed to one that is sponsored by our web site: Please add the new e-mail to your contact lists: CAG@clovisartguild.com

The Only Thing To Fear is Fear Itself

March 27, 2020

Fear is an insidious thing. Yes, we need to take precautions during this time of crisis, but we also need to remember that we are living in the greatest industrial nation in the world today. I believe that we need to take a cue from our grandmothers and grandfathers who fought in WWI and WWII, and take to heart this quote from Winston Churchill:The only thing we have to fear is fear itself.

Now don't take this as an excuse to ignore your safety or those of others. In accordance with the Emerge...

It's A New Year! Hey, What Happened To February?

March 1, 2020

Welcome to March. I hope everyone has been busy working on an entry for the Old West Show. It's coming up faster than you think!

Please sign up to help out with the show. We need members to take sign ins to each category, runners during receiving, and healthy ablebodied folk to help set up the standards and then to hang the art. Sign up sheets will be available at the meeting.

We are also going to need some of you to simply sit the show while it is open.

If you know a high-school student who wo...

Looking Forward To 2019

February 7, 2019

Hi Everyone. Welcome back to the new year. I think 2019 is going to be a great year for us.

To start with, we acquired a new place to show our art: the lovely Armenian Home in the Vineyards. We now have a place for our artists to have a one or two man-show each month, and also a place to hold our Fall Show. (We had a great turnout there and two artists sold art even before we finished hanging the show!)

We have received an anonymous donation of $1,000. Thank you for thinking of us Anonymous.

THINK SMALL!

June 2, 2018

Are you ready to paint small this summer? Our miniature works show has gone back to its roots this summer. For the first time in many years, we will be back in the display cases at the Clovis Library. Since the Library doesn't have space for receiving, we will receive and Judge at the Veteran's Memorial District, and then set up the display that afternoon at the Library.

The miniature works show is an opportunity for artists who paint miniatures to show off their skills and for those of us wh...

THE OLD WEST SHOW IS COMING!

April 2, 2018

The year has hardly begun and I'm very excited about the opportunities we have available to us. We have the Old West Show back in the Veteran's Room, thanks to Alice's wonderful negotiation skills, (Thank you Alice!). We hope to have our Small Works Show in either the Clovis or the Sunnyside Library (Dave Boothby is still working on this) so no promises as yet. Sunnyside library is where we have a year-round exhibit, except for the month and a half when SWA borrows the space for their spring ...
