I hope all of you are ready to hit the ground running in 2017. Change is always difficult, but often when a door closes, another opens. A few updates: Our Board Meetings are now the 1^st Wednesday of each month at the Dennys on Willow and Shaw in Clovis. We reserved the meeting room for 4:30—7:30 PM, and yes we do usually eat dinner during the meeting although it isn’t mandatory to do so.

As you know, there will be some changes to our schedule this year in response to the Veteran District’s new rules. Our board meetings are going to be moved to the 1^st Wednesday of the month, beginning in September 7^th. We will also be changing the location of the board meetings to the Dennys on Shaw and Willow avenues. (710 W Shaw, Clovis, CA 93612). Is it really June already? The miniature show is coming up faster than you think so I hope all of you have started your painting for this year. This year there have been quite a few changes. The Fresno Art Hub will be hosting the show this year. Many thanks to our gracious hostess Diane Breuer. The awards will be given out during Art Hop Thursday on July 7^th so please come and support all our fine artists.  I look forward to seeing you there.

The Old West Show was a rousing success despite a few starting glitches. A big thank you goes out to all of you who turned out to help with the show. Do you know a young or beginning artist who needs encouragement? One of our strongest points as a group is how the Guild nurtures artists who are just beginning to know the joy of creating art. Don’t be shy about inviting that person to our meetings and shows! Also, we would appreciate it if our members would be willing to take copies of our newsletters and prospectuses to places where they know artists hang out, or whom you think might support art. Invite them to join you at a meeting.

What does the future hold for Clovis Art Guild? This is a great art association with the potential to do a lot for the local art scene and for our members. We no longer have the Window Gallery at Sierra Vista Mall as the new management company is going to be taking the mall into a direction that won’t allow room for our art in their empty storefronts.
