The Old West Show Was Great!

Posted by Clovis Art Guild California on Thursday, May 8, 2014 Under: President's message

We had a fabulous Old West Show this year! Thank you’s go out to all of our members (and members husbands!) who stepped in to help. We had over 34 Old West entries! And a show Total of 84, which is a big improvement over the last show. We had enough entries to fill all our categories except Sculpture/Mixed Media, which we had to combine with our next lowest entry category, drawing.  At shows, we do try to avoid combining categories if at all possible, but sometimes it is unavoidable. We also had a nice display by official CSA Rodeo artists Claudia Fletcher and Jim Stuckenberg on view, which drew quite a few visitors.

Part of the show’s success was due to the excellent publicity given us by the Rodeo Association this year.  They not only included us in their calendar of events but also donated $100 to the 1st place winner of the Old West category and we thank them for all their help. This year the Rodeo Association also held their Queen’s Banquet at the Veteran’s Center so we held the show open until 8 PM on Saturday so that attendees could come over and enjoy the show. We had a pretty good crowd and what I am told was “Real Rodeo Royalty” come over and view the show! Thank you Jackie & Jim McCoy for joining me in sitting the show the extra time!

I hope to see you at the next meeting where Master Artist Doris Runyan will be demonstrating Pastel techniques for us!
