Welcome to 2017

I hope all of you are ready to hit the ground running in 2017. Change is always difficult, but often when a door closes, another opens. A few updates: Our Board Meetings are now the 1st Wednesday of each month at the Dennys on Willow and Shaw in Clovis. We reserved the meeting room for 4:30—7:30 PM, and yes we do usually eat dinner during the meeting although it isn’t mandatory to do so.

We are now officially a non-profit 501(c) organization, so any donations we receive from our shows are tax deductible to the giver.

We successfully moved our Miniature Works Art Show (July) and the Fall Open Show (November) to the Art Hub. Both shows drew more viewers during the time they were up and especially during the Artist Receptions on Art Hop night. The Old West & Rodeo Art show remains at the Veteran’s District. Because of changes in the pricing, we moved the show into the lobby instead of using a large room. The show will have a shorter hanging time of 5 days instead of 8. We should see this as positive because the move into the Lobby means that everyone who enters the building will walk through our show.

For the small sum of $25 per year, you can have your very own web page on our website. Take a look at Carol and Gail’s pages so you can judge for yourself what they are like. You may post pricing but you will need to handle any sales yourself.

I think this is going to be a great year for the Guild and I hope you feel the same way. Don’t forget to bring a painting to the February meeting for Pick of the Month, and a drawing for the show cover brochure in March!
