The Old West Show is coming up fast and we are going to need
a lot of assistance from our members. This year will be the 100th year
anniversary of the Rodeo and the Rodeo Association is going to begin sponsoring
the prize for the 1st place winner of the Old West category once
again. Another piece of good news is
this year we are on the calendar the Rodeo Assoc. sent to the Fresno Bee. Watch
for announcements of our show also on the community calendars of TV stations
KMPH (26) and COZY (7.2). Additionally, since the Rodeo Association will be
holding their banquet at the Veteran’s this year, we will be staying open later
on Saturday night so they can come in and see the show. This is a wonderful
opportunity to remind the movers and shakers in Clovis of our fabulous art!
Rodeo artists Claudia Fletcher (who did the poster for the
rodeo for the past several years) and Jim Stuckenberg (who did that wonderful
sculpture in front of the rodeo grounds) will have a special display of their
art during the show.
We are going to need all of our members to sign up to help
with the show and to sit during show hours. Since Alice will have had surgery
just before the show, Jackie McCoy will be assisting her to write receipts for
entries. This means we desperately need someone to step up and persuade all the
artists entering the show to sit at least once. Thursday, we need members to
help log in the entries and runners to put the art in categories. On Friday
morning we will need runners to help set out the art for our judge, and then on
Friday Afternoon, we need strong, able-bodied help to set up the standards and
hang the show. On Wednesday, is our artist reception and award ceremony, so
please sign up to bring in finger foods and come to the reception! Invite your
family, friends and customers to see your art! Finally, on Sunday afternoon we
are going to need more able-bodied artists to assist in taking down the show.
Our art show will only be as good as the support you give and I know I can
count on our members to step up and volunteer.
